So this is a tutorial to make a nice and original font for old Middle Age's writings.
First you need to get a nice gothic writing.
I worked with the font called : Deutsche Zierschrift available on DAFONT.COM
STEP ONE :
So the very first step is to upload the font and add it into the window's fonts to be able to use it in your software. (If you already know how to do that.. Just get to the step TWO)
- Click on "Download"
- Export the file en then on your C: --> WINDOWS --> Fonts and add the exported file in it. You can't delete the other files except the one with the letter icon.
- Now start your walling software and you'll be able to use the font.
STEP TWO :
- Make a layer with your words.
- Copy/past this layer to have two text layers.
- Make the first text layer on top black.
- Make the second text layer in orange or a color that approaches the color of the paper under it.
- Move the second text layer down to give the sens of some depth to the writing. like it was sort of curved.
- On the first top layer, add an effect called in Corel : "corrections: dust and scratches". You need to judge how much you want to "damage your letters" it's to give an irregular look to the writing.
- Add a little bevel effect if you feel like giving even more 3D style to the writing and also a sort of old look if it's in grey.
Of course at the end you can add different effects to make the writing match better the paper. Like lower a bit the opacity of the two layers.
Note : in this bottom version I used a texture on the top layer. Here's the [link] to the texture (it's the original from Corel. I darken it a bit in my picture)
Sorry if this tutorial seems a bit messy... it's the first one I do
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
